Adding Top Band to the GM0ONX Antenna
CLICK HERE TO SEE WHAT I HAVE WORKED!
I recently purchased an Icom IC-7400 with a view to operating H.F. and quickly realised that I needed an H.F. antenna. About the same time Len Paget GM0ONX published his design for a five band inverted L in Practical Wireless magazine so I set about making one. I can thouroughly recommend Len's antenna, it is a doddle to make and works very well. The lack of topband was the only snag. I then talked myself into making another trap, this time with 21 turns which ended up on 3.6Mhz and adding another 10 metres of wire. This was added to the antenna as shown in the diagram. I had to remove about 15cms of wire from the piece between the traps to get the resonance back on to 80m and then trim the far end for top band. The antenna seems to work ok so far, so if you hear me on 160m please give me a report!
